Assignment: You are to use chapter 13 in your textbook and the internet to research how technology can help your business. For this assignment you can look at how technology can help business in general, as well as your specific business. (wireless printers, gps tracking of inventory, computer conferencing etc).
You are to create a powerpoint presentation highlighting how NEW technology can help business. In other words, explain how a new technology can save time, money, space, or make life easier for business.
Your powerpoint must touch on several different technologies, have a non-default background, include pictures, sound, and run automatically with proper timing.

NEW PROJECT: Preparing a Business Plan Part 2A
Your first task will be to create an organizational chart for your business. It should include the following:
* Your Business Name
* ALL people/positions in the company, including yours (if you don't have the names of employees, just list the job title.
* Job positions should be divided into categories (depends on the type of business) Examples cooks, waitresses, managers, sales staff, etc.
* The chart should be arranged to show the management positions at the top and the part-time, low-pay positions at the bottom.

Start by answering the following questions and hand them in.
Wall Street Questions:
1. What is the stock market? Briefly outline how it works.
2. What is insider trading and why is it illegal?
3. What is Limited Liability mean?
3. Create a list and EXPLAIN some of the pros and cons of having the idea of publicly traded companies (and therefor the stock market)
[think of the benefits/negatives to the shareholders, the workers, towns, cities etc]
Next: You are going to start creating the plans for a business. Each student will need to come up with a business idea and create a business plan. You will be using this business idea for the rest of the semester, so choose wisely.
Criteria: You have just inherited $150,000 to start your business. In your plans, you could start a business that requires more capital but you'll need to account for it (loans, financing, partners etc)
Step 1:
Create a point form Pro and Con list for the following business types (for you)
Sole proprietorship
Partnership
Private corporation
Franchise

Today we will be carrying on with learning about Corporations, Publicly Traded companies and the stock market.
Activity:
We will be starting a stock market game/competition that will run from today until January 10, 2008. You will be given $100,000 (imaginary) to invest using an on-line stock market simulator. This is VERY realistic, because it uses REAL stocks and stock prices. The people who make the most money by January will win a PRIZE!!

Using Microsoft EXCEL create a chart of your five favourite companies. The chart must include the 'Company Name', 'Founders Name', 'Year Founded', 'list of Changes that have happened in the Company'.
Activity 2: When you finish activity one, work with a partner to come up with a list of 10-20 business opportunities that you feel exist. Pick the best one and write a few sentences explaining why you feel a business opportunity exists.

3. Have they had any failures or troubles, if so, do you think that it hurt them or helped them in the end? Explain.
4. In a paragraph explain how this person has managed to achieve success, (you may wish to talk about their ideas, work ethic, ability to compete etc.)
